Regatta Lepa Semporna 25 - 27 Apr 2014
The Regatta Lepa is an annual event that pays homage to the lepa, a traditional single-mast sailing boat of the Sea Bajau of Semporna. A flotilla of colorful boats dot the Celebes Sea as they compete for the title of ‘Most Beautiful Lepa’. The celebration continues with various cultural performances, the Lepa Beauty Pageant, cultural performances, fireworks display as well as traditional and contemporary sports and games.

Traditional Mock Wedding and Traditional Food Tasting 26 April 2014
Witness the traditions, customs and rituals of a traditional Kadazandusun wedding at the Monsopiad Cultural Village in Penampang. The highlight of the ceremony is the ‘Miohon Pinisi’, a sacred ritual usually conducted by a high priestess or elder. As in any wedding, a grand feast is served and merry-making follows suit.

Magavau Ceremony 24 May 2014
The Magavau is a ceremony ritual performed by the Bobohizans (high priestess) whose task is to search and salvage the lost Bambaazon (rice spirit) who are hurt or separated from the main mystical body.
